The further development of industrial and high-end manufacturing is having more requirements for the precision. As an important manufacturing technique, laser manufacturing technique is now changing from the original nanosecond level to femtosecond and picosecond level.
Since 2017, domestic ultrafast picosecond laser and femtosecond laser have been developing so fast with better stability and high power. The domestication of ultrafast laser breaks the dominance of the foreign suppliers and more importantly, lowers the purchasing cost. In the past, a 20W picosecond laser cost more than 1.1 million RMB. Such a high cost was one of the reasons why laser micro-machining wasn’t fully promoted at that time. But now, ultrafast laser and its core components are having lower price, which is good news for the mass application of laser micro-machining. As for the equipped cooling device, the first domestic ultrafast laser chiller was also born last year.
The domestic ultrafast laser chiller has a great significance
Nowadays, the power of ultrafast laser has greatly improved, from 5W to 20W to 30W and 50W. As we know, ultrafast laser features non-contact processing and extremely high precision, so it does a good job in consumer electronics components processing, thin film cutting, brittle material processing and chemical & medical sector. The high precision and stability of ultrafast laser needs to be supported by a precise temperature control system. But as the laser power increases, the temperature stability is harder to ensure, making the processing result is less satisfactory.
The continuous breakthrough of ultrafast laser results in high standard for the cooling system. In the past, ultra-high precision water chiller could only be imported from the foreign countries.
But now, the CWUP-20 ultrafast laser chiller produced by S&A Teyu offers domestic users another alternative. This compact recirculating water chiller features ±0.1℃ temperature stability, which reaches the level of the oversea suppliers. Ultrafast laser for glass cutting
The application of ultrafast laser is getting wider and wider. From silicon wafer, PCB, FPCB, ceramics to OLED, solar battery and HDI processing, ultrafast laser can be a powerful tool and its mass application has just started.
According to the data, the domestic mobile phone production capacity accounts for more than 90% of the total capacity of the world. Many people may not know that, the early application of ultrafast laser was mainly around mobile phone parts - phone camera blind hole drilling, camera slide cutting and full screen cutting. All these share the same material - glass. Therefore, ultrafast laser for glass cutting has become quite mature nowadays.
Comparing with traditional knives, ultrafast laser has higher efficiency and better cutting edge when it comes to cutting glass. Nowadays, the demand of laser glass cutting in consumer electronics continues to grow. In the past 2 years, the sales volume of smart watch has continued to grow, bringing more opportunities to laser micro-machining technique.
