As technology continues to advance, 3D printing has made its way into the field of aerospace, demanding increasingly precise technical requirements. The critical factor affecting the quality of 3D printing technology is temperature control, and TEYU water chiller CW-7900 ensures optimal cooling for 3D printers of printed rockets.
On March 23, 2023, the world witnessed the launch of the first-ever 3D printed rocket developed by Relativity Space. Standing at a height of 33.5 meters, this 3D printed rocket is claimed to be the largest 3D printed object attempted for orbital flight. Approximately 85% of the rocket's components, including its nine engines, were manufactured using 3D printing technology.
Although this 3D-printed rocket achieved success in its third launch attempt, an "anomaly" occurred during the separation of the second stage, preventing it from reaching the desired orbit. As technology continues to advance, 3D printing has made its way into the field of aerospace, demanding increasingly precise technical requirements.
Critical Factor Affecting the Quality of 3D Printing Technology: Temperature Control
The printhead of a 3D printer operates through two heat transfer methods: thermal conduction and thermal convection. During the printing process, the solid printing material is heated within the heating chamber to a liquid state, ensuring proper melting, excellent adhesive flow, appropriate filament width, and strong adhesion. This thermal conduction process guarantees the quality of the printed object.
To ensure a smooth printing process, adherence to standards, and to avoid excessively high or low temperatures within the heating chamber, temperature control is crucial. If the temperature becomes too high, the use of air conditioning is required to lower the temperature, thus initiating the thermal convection process.
In the printing process, if the temperature is too high, the nozzle outlet can become sticky, impacting the usability of the printed object and even causing deformation. Conversely, if the temperature is too low, material solidification accelerates, preventing proper bonding with other materials and potentially leading to nozzle clogging, hindering the completion of a successful print job.
