Influence of cooling water temperature on CO₂ laser power

Water cooling covers the entire power range that CO₂ lasers can achieve. In the actual production process, the water temperature adjustment function of the chiller is usually used to keep the laser equipment within a suitable temperature range to ensure the continuous and stable operation of the laser equipment.

There are two heat dissipation methods commonly used in CO2 lasers, air cooling and water cooling. Air-cooled heat dissipation is mainly used for low-power lasers, and its power generally does not exceed 100W. Water cooling covers the entire power range that CO₂ lasers can achieve.

Water cooling usually uses pure water, distilled water or deionized water as cooling water to dissipate heat from the laser. The main factor affecting heat dissipation is temperature difference. The increase in the temperature of the cooling water will reduce the temperature difference and the heat dissipation effect, thereby affecting the laser power. Therefore, reducing the cooling water temperature can improve the heat dissipation and increase the laser power to a certain extent. However, the cooling water cannot be reduced indefinitely. Too low temperature requires a longer warm-up time, and may also cause condensation on the surface of the laser, which affects the use of the laser and even shortens its service life.

In the actual production process, the water temperature adjustment function of the chiller is usually used to keep the laser equipment within a suitable temperature range to ensure the continuous and stable operation of the laser equipment.
