The laser marking application in watch

Most of the laser marking machine used in watch production is UV laser marking machine and UV laser is a “cold light source” that features 355nm wavelength. To maintain the marking precision on such a limited space of the watch, the temperature of the UV laser must be carefully controlled.

In the past, watch is only the tool for knowing time. And now, it has also become an embodiment of the wearer’s identity.

Therefore, a delicate watch now has become a piece of high quality jewelry. However, since the watch is worn on our wrist, it can easily experience scratching, wearing and other damages. This makes the delicate marking and patterns gradually fade away or disappear eventually. Therefore, watch manufacturers are quite demanding on the markings on the watch - they needs to be not only beautiful and delicate but also long lasting and corrosion free. Traditional marking technique had poor definition and the markings are easy to be erased. But now, with the advent of laser marking machine, those kinds of demands can be easily met.

Traditional marking technique needs to have contact with the surface of the watch during operation, so it is easy to cause damage and extrusion on the watch surface, leading to overall exterior effect of the watch. Besides, the space of the watch is pretty limited and not a single minor fault is allowed during processing. That requires the marking technique to be very very delicate. And to laser marking machine, these mentioned problems can be easily solved. Controlled by computer software, laser marking machine can control the laser light very precisely to perform marking, scribing and engraving on very limited space without damaging the watch surface.

Most of the laser marking machine used in watch production is UV laser marking machine and UV laser is a “cold light source” that features 355nm wavelength. To maintain the marking precision on such a limited space of the watch, the temperature of the UV laser must be carefully controlled.

S&A Teyu high precision chiller CWUL-05 is ideally suited to cool UV laser and features properly designed pipeline to avoid the bubble generation. This chiller can deliver continuous cooling with ±0.2℃ temperature stability and the temperature range of 5-35 degree C. In addition, CWUL-05 water chiller is designed with built-in alarms to protect the chiller itself from the water flow and temperature problem. Therefore, the UV laser marking machine users can rest assured using this chiller.
