Various Advantages of Fiber Lasers

Fiber lasers are a new generation of lasers that emit a laser beam with high energy density, which is concentrated onto the workpiece surface. This causes the area exposed to the ultra-fine focused light spot to instantly melt and vaporize. By utilizing a computer numerical control (CNC) mechanical system to move the light spot position, automatic cutting is achieved. Compared to gas and solid-state lasers of the same size, fiber lasers have distinct advantages. They have gradually become important candidates for high-precision laser processing, laser radar systems, space technology, laser medicine, and other fields. 

1. Fiber lasers have a high electrical-optical conversion efficiency, with a conversion rate of over 30%. Low-power fiber lasers do not require a water chiller and instead use an air-cooling device, which can significantly save electricity and reduce operating costs while achieving high production efficiency.

2. During fiber laser operation, only electrical energy is required, and there is no need for additional gas to generate the laser. This results in low operating and maintenance costs.

3. Fiber lasers use a semiconductor modular and redundant design, with no optical lenses inside the resonant cavity, and require no start-up time. They offer advantages such as no adjustment, maintenance-free, and high stability, reducing accessory costs and maintenance time. These benefits cannot be achieved with traditional lasers.

4. The fiber laser produces an output wavelength of 1.064 micrometers, which is one-tenth of the CO2 wavelength. With its high power density and excellent beam quality, it is ideal for metal material absorption, cutting, and welding, resulting in reduced processing costs.

5. The use of fiber optic cables for transmitting the entire optical path eliminates the need for complex reflective mirrors or light guide systems, resulting in a simple, stable, and maintenance-free external optical path.

6. The cutting head is equipped with protective lenses that greatly reduce the consumption of valuable consumables such as the focusing lens.

7. Exporting light through fiber optic cables simplifies mechanical system design and enables easy integration with robots or multi-dimensional workbenches.

8. With the addition of an optical gate, the laser can be used for multiple machines. Fiber optic splitting enables the laser to be divided into multiple channels and machines to work simultaneously, making it easy to expand and upgrade functions.

9. Fiber lasers have a small size, lightweight, and can be easily moved to different processing scenarios, occupying a small footprint.
