Chiller Troubleshooting

How to solve high-pressure alarm fault of industrial chiller?

Pressure stability is an important indicator to measure whether the refrigeration unit works normally. When the pressure in the water chiller is ultrahigh, it will trigger the alarm sending a fault signal and stopping the refrigeration system from working. We can quickly detect and troubleshoot the malfunction from five aspects.

With the purpose of providing cooling solution, an industrial chiller’s normal operation is an essential precondition for the stable working of mechanical equipment. And the pressure stability is an important indicator to measure whether the refrigeration unit works normally. When the pressure in the water chiller is ultrahigh, it will trigger the alarm sending fault signal and stop refrigeration system from working. We can quickly detect and troubleshoot the malfunction from the following aspects:

1. Ultrahigh ambient temperature caused by poor heat dissipation

Clogging in the filter gauze will lead to insufficient heat radiation. To solve this problem, you can remove the gauze and clean it regularly.

Keeping good ventilation for air inlet and outlet is also essential for heat dissipation.

2. Clogged condenser

Blockage in the condenser may cause a high pressure failure in the cooling system that high-pressure refrigerant gas condense abnormally and a large amount of gas accumulate. So it is necessary to do periodic cleaning on the condenser, whose cleaning instructions are available from S&A after-sales team through e-mail.

3. Excessive refrigerant

An excess of refrigerant cannot condense into a liquid and overlap the space, reducing the condensing effect and thus increasing the pressure. The refrigerant should be released until normal according to the suck and exhaust pressure, balance pressure and running current under rated working conditions.

4. Air in the cooling system

This situation mostly occurs after the maintenance of the compressor or a new machine that air is mixed in the cooling system and stays in the condenser causing condensation failure and rise in pressure. Solution is to degas through air separating valve, air outlet and the condenser of the chiller. If you have any doubts on the operation, please feel free to contact S&A after-sales service team.

5. False alarm/abnormal parameter

Shield parameter or short circuit the pressure switch signal line, then turn on the chiller to check whether the cooling system can work normally. Please note if E09 alarm occurs, it can be directly judged as parameter abnormality, and you just need to modify the parameter.

With 20-year R&D experience in chiller manufacturing, S&A chiller has developed in-depth knowledge of industrial water chillers, boasting outstanding engineers responsible for fault detection and maintenance, plus quick-respond after-sales service reassures our clients when purchasing and using.
