What kinds of PCB can laser welding machine work on?

In order to keep the PCB laser welding machine at its optimum,it needs to be properly cooled by an industrial chiller. S&A Teyu has been dedicating to industrial refrigeration for 19 years and can offer industrial chillers for different kinds of laser welding machines.

As we all know, PCB is the “bridge” to connect each electrical components and is the major component in electronic products. It has a variety of applications, including consumer electronics, automobile electronics, communication, medicine, military project, aerospace and so on. Nowadays, consumer electronics and automobile electronics are experiencing the fastest development and become the main application fields. At this time, the welding of PCB has attracted the great attention from the PCB manufacturers. So, what kinds of PCB can laser welding machine work on? Let’s take a closer look below.

1.The object needs to be weldable
It means that under proper temperature, the to-be--melted metal and the soldering tin can combine together to have the good quality of the alloy quality. Not every metal has good weldability. To improve the weldability of the metal, users can perform tin-plating or silver-plating on the metal to prevent the oxidation of the metal surface.

2.The object needs to be clean on the surface
In order to combine the soldering tin and the to-be-melted objects, the surface of the object needs to be clean. Even for good weldability objects, oxidation film or oil stain could occur on the object surface. Therefore, to guarantee the welding quality, the object surface must be clean.

3.Use suitable scaling powder
The purpose of scaling powder is to remove the oxidation film on the to-be-welded object. Different welding techniques should adopt different scaling powder. For welding precision electronics like PCB, rosin should be used as the scaling powder to guarantee the welding reliability.

4.The object needs to be heated to suitable temperature
If the welding temperature is too low, the alloy can’t be formed. And if the welding temperature is too high, the welding flux will stay in non-eutectic status, which will decrease the quality of the welding flux and in the worst case scenario, the pad on the PCB will drop.

5.The welding requires suitable time period
The welding time means the time spent in the chemical and physical reaction in the welding process. After deciding the welding temperature, users should decide suitable welding time based on the shape, quality and the characteristics of the to-be-welded objects. If the welding time is too long, the components or the welded parts are easy to be damaged. Generally speaking, each spot shouldn’t take more than 5 seconds at a time.

In order to keep the PCB laser welding machine at its optimum, it needs to be properly cooled by an industrial chiller. S&A Teyu has been dedicating to industrial refrigeration for 19 years and can offer industrial chillers for different kinds of laser welding machines. The recirculating chillers feature ease of use, low maintenance, long service life, unmatched reliability. The cooling capacity ranges from 0.6KW to 30KW, which can meet the cooling needs from different users.
