Laser welding machine uses high energy laser pulse to do the heating on the subtle areas of the processed materials. The energy will then transmit to the inside of the materials through heat transfer, then the materials will melt to form specific molten pool to achieve melting purpose.
Laser welding machine is a common processing machine in the industry sector. By working pattern, laser welding machine can be categorized into automatic laser welding machine, laser spot welding machine, fiber laser welding machine and so on.
There are many kinds of materials that laser welding machine can work on. To name a few:
1.Die steel
Lase welding machine can work on die steel of the following types: S136, SKD-11, NAK80, 8407, 718, 738, H13, P20, W302,2344 and so on. Welding effect on these die steels are very good.
2.Carbon steel
Since the heating speed and cooling speed of the laser welding machine are pretty fast when it is working, the welding crack and the gap sensitivity will increase as the carbon percentage increases. High-medium carbon steel and normal alloy steel are both suitable carbon steels to work on, but they need preheating and post-welding treatment to avoid weld crack.
3.Stainless steel
Comparing with carbon steel, stainless steel has lower heat conductivity factor and higher energy absorbing rate. Using small power laser welding machine to weld thin stainless steel plate can achieve good welding outlook and smooth weld joint without bubble and gap.
4.Copper and copper alloy
It is suggested to use high-medium laser welding machine to work on copper and copper alloy as they are hard to achieve complete joining and welding. Hot crack, bubble and welding stress are common problem after welding.
5.Plastic
The common plastic that laser welding machine can work on include PP, PS, PC, ABS, PA, PMMA,POM,PET and PBT. However, laser welding machine doesn’t directly work on the plastic and users need to add carbon black to the base material so that enough energy can be absorbed as plastic has lower laser penetration rate.
While laser welding machine is working, the laser source inside tends to generate excessive heat.
