What is a laser chiller?
A laser chiller is a self contained device that is used to remove heat from the heat-generating laser source. It can be rack mount or stand-alone type. Suitable temperature range is very helpful in extending the service life of the laser. Therefore, keeping the lasers cool is very important. S&A Teyu offers different kinds of laser chillers applicable to cool various kinds of lasers, including UV laser, fiber laser, CO2 laser, semiconductor laser, ultrafast laser, YAG laser and so on.
What does a laser chiller do?
The laser chiller is mainly used to cool the laser generator of the laser equipment through water circulation and to control the use temperature of the laser generator so that the laser generator can keep working normally for a long time. During the long-term operation of laser equipment, the laser generator will continue to generate high temperatures. If the temperature is too high, it will affect the normal operation of the laser generator. Therefore, a laser chiller is required for temperature control.
Do you need a water chiller for your laser cutting, welding, engraving, marking or printing machine?
Of course need. Here are five reasons: 1)Laser beams generate a substantial amount of heat, and a laser chiller can dissipate the heat and eliminate unnecessary waste heat to result in high-quality laser processing. 2)Laser power and output wavelength are sensitive to temperature changes, and laser chillers can maintain consistency in these elements and provide reliable laser performance to extend the laser's lifespan. 3)Uncontrolled vibration can lead to a decrease in beam quality and laser head vibration, and the laser chiller can maintain the laser beam and shape to reduce waste rates. 4)Drastic temperature changes can put a lot of stress on the laser operating system, but using a laser chiller to cool the system can minimize this stress, reducing defects and system failures. 5)Premium laser chillers can optimize the product processing process and quality, increase production efficiency and the lifespan of laser equipment, reducing product losses and machine maintenance costs.
What temperature should a laser chiller be?
The laser chiller temperature range from 5-35℃, but the ideal temperature range is 20-30℃, which makes the laser chiller reach the best performance. Considering the two factors of laser power and stability, TEYU S&A recommends you set the temperature of 25℃. In hot summer, it can be set at 26-30℃ to avoid condensation.
How to choose a laser chiller?
The most important point is to choose chiller products manufactured by experienced laser chiller manufacturers, which usually means high quality and good services. Second, choose the corresponding chiller according to your laser type, fiber laser, CO2 laser, YAG laser, CNC, UV laser, picosecond/femtosecond laser, etc., all have corresponding laser chillers. Then choose the most suitable and cost-effective laser chiller according to various indicators such as cooling capacity, temperature control accuracy, budget, etc. TEYU S&A chiller manufacturer has 21 years of experience in manufacturing and selling laser chillers. With high-quality and efficient chiller products, preferential prices, good service and 2-year warranty, TEYU S&A is your ideal laser cooling partner.
What are the precautions for using a laser chiller?
Keep environment temperature range from 0℃~45℃, environment humidity of ≤80%RH. Use purified water, distilled water, ionized water, high-purity water and other softened water. Match the power frequency of the laser chiller according to the usage situation and ensure that the frequency fluctuation is less than ±1Hz. Keep the power supply stable within ±10V if it would work for a long time. Keep away from electromagnetic interference sources and use the voltage regulator/variable-frequency power source when necessary. Use the same type of the same refrigerant brand. Keep regular maintenance such as ventilated environment, replacing the circulating water regularly, removing dust regularly, shut down on holidays, etc.
How to maintain the laser chiller?
In summer: Adjust the chiller's working environment to maintain the optimal ambient temperature between 20℃-30℃. Regularly use an air gun to clean the dust on the laser chiller's filter gauze and condenser surface. Maintain a distance of more than 1.5m between the laser chiller's air outlet (fan) and obstacles and a distance of more than 1m between the chiller's air inlet (filter gauze) and obstacles to facilitate heat dissipation. Regularly clean the filter screen as it is where dirt and impurities accumulate the most. Replace it to ensure stable water flow of the laser chiller if it's too dirty. Regularly replace the circulating water with distilled or purified water in summer if antifreeze was added in winter. Replace the cooling water every 3 months and clean pipeline impurities or residues to keep the water circulation system unobstructed. Adjust the set water temperature based on the ambient temperature and laser operating requirements.
In winter: Keep the laser chiller in a ventilated position and remove the dust regularly. Replace the circulating water once every 3 months and it's better to select purified water or distilled water to reduce the limescale formation and keep the water circuit smooth. Drain the water from the laser chiller and store the chiller properly if you don’t use it in winter. Cover the laser chiller with a clean plastic bag to prevent dust and moisture from entering the equipment. Add antifreeze for laser chiller when it's below 0℃.
