Materials that handheld laser welder is applicable to process

Handheld laser welder is often powered by 1-2KW fiber laser. To keep the handheld laser welder at its optimal, the fiber laser source inside needs to be properly cooled. At this time,a water chiller system would be ideal.

Featuring high welding speed, high precision & efficiency and smooth weld line, handheld laser welder has become a “heated” technique in the industrial welding sector. There are a wide variety of applications for handheld laser welder, but many people don’t know what materials it is applicable to process. Today, we would like to list some of the most common materials below.

1.Die steel
Handheld laser welder is applicable to weld die steels of various types and has fantastic welding performance.

2.Carbon steel
Using handheld laser welder to weld carbon steel can achieve good welding effect and the welding quality depends on the content of the impurity. In order to get the best welding quality, preheating needs to be performed if the carbon steel has over 25% of carbon so that micro-crack won’t occur.

3.Stainless steel
Because of high welding speed and small heat affecting zone, handheld laser welder can reduce the negative effect brought by big coefficient of linear expansion in stainless steel. Plus, the weld line doesn’t have bubble, impurities and so on. Comparing with carbon steel, stainless steel can achieve narrow weld line of deep penetration welding, for it has low thermal conductivity coefficient, high energy absorption rate and melting efficiency. Therefore, it is very ideal to use handheld laser welder to weld stainless steel.

4.Copper and copper alloy
Welding copper and copper alloy can easily have the not-bonding and not-welding problem. Therefore, it is better to use handheld laser welder with focused energy and high power laser source and do the preheating.

In fact , in addition to the above mentioned metals, handheld laser welder can also bond different types of metals together. Under certain conditions, copper & nickle, nickle & titanium, copper & titanium, titanium & molybdenum, brass & copper can be bonded respectively with handheld laser welder.

Handheld laser welder is often powered by 1-2KW fiber laser. To keep the handheld laser welder at its optimal, the fiber laser source inside needs to be properly cooled. At this time, a water chiller system would be ideal.

S&A Teyu RMFL series rack mount chiller is specially designed for cooling handheld laser welder from 1-2KW. The rack mount design of the chiller allows it to be placed in a movable rack, which increases its mobility. In addition, the RMFL series water chiller system has a front-mounted fill port together with a water level check, so it is very easy for users to do the water filling and checking. More importantly, the rack mount chiller features ±0.5℃, which is very precise.
